Social Epidemiology
Joost Oude Groeniger is Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Health (Erasmus MC) and the Department of Public Administration and Sociology (ESSB). He uses his professional roots in sociology and public health to develop transdisciplinary insights on the causes and consequences of health inequalities. His research focuses on understanding the various ways in which environmental-level contexts, such as the physical, economic, social, cultural, and institutional context, shape health and health-related behaviours. He uses these scientific insights to better align health promotion strategies to the contexts and lifeworlds of different social groups.
